Well, you knew it was coming, and now it’s here: my FIRST piece for Metropolis Magazine will hit the streets tomorrow morning (September 4th)!!

I’ve written a feature on a very inspiring and brilliant (not to mention beautiful) young woman named Mitzi Uehara Carter.

She has dedicated her mind and energy to giving voice to and telling the stories of blackness and mixed heritage on the island of Okinawa!

Her blog is called:

Grits and Sushi

Check it out when you get a chance (click on link above)

I had the pleasure of meeting her a few weeks back when she was in Tokyo on a visit…and was just blown away! Just knew I had to write about her and her amazing work!

She reminds me of my favorite writer Zora Neale Hurston, collecting folklore in Jamaica and Haiti to share with us all!

Wanna learn more about this woman? Get your copy tomorrow morning at a news stand, shop or wherever Metropolis Magazines are available.

You can read the full article HERE (Pg 13)
